1964年にNOKとEG&Gシーロールの合弁で設立された日本シールオールが起源。
1988年にEG&Gとの合弁で航空宇宙向けの合弁を設け、2005年にはブルグマンとメカニカルシールの合弁事業を組んだ。メカニカルシールを主力とするシール部品メーカーで、NOKグループの一角を占める。
