1953年に沼本實氏が日本電気を出自として設立した日本航空エレクトロニクスが起源。
米軍機の電子機器の修理から入り、1955年にコネクタの自社製造へ移り、1971年には慣性航法装置の製造に達した。売上の87%をコネクタが占めるコネクタメーカーである。
