1904年に静岡県浜松市で織機の製造を始めた合資会社鈴政式織機製作所が起源。
大正末期に管替式の自動織機を完成させて輸入織機を国産品で置き換え、1937年には工作機械の製作に乗り出した。工作機械と受託の部品加工を手がけ、ヤマハ発動機を最大の顧客とする部品加工が売上の過半を占める。
