1945年創業のマルエツの前身の魚悦商店が起源。
1977年にマルエツが食品スーパー初の東証二部上場を果たし、2015年にカスミ・マックスバリュ関東と共同持株会社を組んだ。2024年にいなげやを統合したイオン系の食品スーパー連合である。
