1943年に設立された東京鐵道工業が起源。
1952年に現社名へ改め、2016年には新幹線大規模改修本部を設けて鉄道インフラの保守・改修を担ってきた。鉄道工事を柱に建築・建材も手がける建設会社で、2022年からは東日本旅客鉄道がその他の関係会社に当たる。
