1945年に羽山昇氏が開業した謄写印刷業「理想社」が起源。
1981年からリソグラフの直販網を築き、1986年にRISO, INC.を設立して海外へ展開した。リソグラフを主力とする印刷機器メーカーで、2024年にはインクジェットヘッド事業も始め、売上高は787億円。
