1947年に創立された共栄製鉄が起源。
1967年に小形棒鋼を主体とする条鋼メーカーへ転換し、1992年に米国のフロリダスチール、1994年にベトナムのビナ・キョウエイ・スチールで海外へ出た。
電炉で棒鋼をつくる電炉メーカーである。
