1886年に田島達策氏が開業したカネイチ運送店が起源。
1910年に石炭販売へ参入し、1959年からLPガスを本格的に扱って家庭の燃料転換を担った。LPガスなどのエネルギー事業を主力に不動産も営むグループで、2025年3月期の売上高は3,397億円。
