Background

He joined Mitsubishi Bank in 1922 and became President in June 1959 after serving as Deputy President. His predecessor Mitsuo Ogasawara had joined in 1921, so consecutive Presidents came from generations one year apart. His tenure as President lasted about two years, until November 1961.

Education: Tokyo Imperial University, Faculty of Law, Law (now University of Tokyo, Faculty of Law) (1922)

Selection

In June 1959 he succeeded Mitsuo Ogasawara as President. Under his predecessor, Mitsubishi Bank's ordinary revenue had grown from ¥16.2 billion in the fiscal year ended March 1954 to ¥34.9 billion in the FY ended March 1958, and the change came as the bank moved from reconstruction to expansion. Promoted from Deputy President, he appears to have taken over in line with the bank's internal order of seniority.
