Background

He joined Denso in April 1986, became a Managing Officer in June 2015 and a Senior Executive Officer in January 2021, and President in June 2023. A software specialist, he was responsible for engine ECU software development and served as Chief Software Officer. In March 2024 the President also took on the role of CEO.

In June 2023 he succeeded Koji Arima, who had served eight years, as President. In the fiscal year ended March 2023, the year before, consolidated revenue was ¥6,401.3 billion and operating income ¥426.1 billion. Revenue from the Toyota group was ¥3,158.8 billion, 49% of consolidated revenue. From late 2023 to early 2024, certification fraud came to light at Daihatsu Motor and Toyota Industries. The company appears to have entrusted a software engineer with restoring quality and electrification.

Initiatives

In February 2024 Denso booked an additional ¥151.8 billion quality provision and cut its operating income forecast for the fiscal year ended March 2024 to ¥495.0 billion. While transferring the fuel pump module business to Aisan Industry and two businesses including spark plugs to Niterra, it raised its fiscal 2030 target for electrification-related revenue to ¥1.7 trillion, about 2.8 times the fiscal 2022 level, and announced a plan to invest ¥500 billion in semiconductors. In FY ended March 2026 consolidated revenue was ¥7,540.0 billion and operating income ¥552.5 billion.
