Background
He joined the Industrial Bank of Japan in 1965 and moved to Nisshin Flour Milling two years later, in 1967. He rose to Director in 1976, Managing Director in 1980 and Senior Managing Director in 1984. As of March 1980, before he became President, major shareholders were led by Fuji Bank with 7.56%, followed by banks and life insurers, while among operating companies Yamazaki Baking held 3.90% and Mitsubishi Corporation 2.31%.

Initiatives
In July 2001 he became President of Nisshin Seifun Group Inc. In a reorganization that spun off all businesses and converted the company to a pure holding company, Nisshin Flour Milling became one of the operating companies. After the transition, consolidated net sales in the fiscal year ended March 2002 were ¥397.1 billion with 4,684 employees, and in his final year, FY ended March 2004, ¥434.1 billion with 5,185 employees.
