Background

He joined Daiwa Securities Group in April 1989, becoming an Executive Officer in April 2014, Managing Executive Officer in April 2017 and Senior Managing Executive Officer in April 2019. He became Director and Senior Managing Executive Officer in June 2020 and Director and Deputy President in April 2022, and became Director, Representative Executive Officer, President and CEO in April 2024, in his 35th year with the company. It took him 25 years to become an Executive Officer, and he took office after ten years as an officer.

In April 2024 he succeeded Seiji Nakata as Director, Representative Executive Officer, President and CEO, promoted after two years as Director and Deputy President from April 2022, making three consecutive internal promotions from Deputy President after Takashi Hibino and Nakata. In the fiscal year ended March 2024, the year before he took office, consolidated net sales were ¥1,277.4 billion, operating profit ¥153.7 billion and net income ¥121.5 billion, a recovery from ¥866.0 billion, ¥66.3 billion and ¥63.8 billion the year before.

In the fiscal year ended March 2025, his first year, consolidated net sales were ¥1,372.0 billion, operating profit ¥166.7 billion and net income ¥154.3 billion, all above the prior year. In the FY ended March 2026 net sales were ¥1,468.0 billion, operating profit ¥207.3 billion, ordinary profit ¥234.5 billion and net income ¥175.3 billion, a second straight year of growth. On taking office he set the goal of becoming the company most trusted by investors and shareholders. He has carried on the shift to a wealth management business that began under his predecessor Seiji Nakata.
