Background

He graduated from the mechanical department of Tokyo Higher Technical School in 1920 and joined Ishikawajima Shipyard that April. He left in 1936, moved that June to Ishikawajima-Shibaura Turbine, becoming a Director in July 1937 and President in April 1946. In June 1946 he also became a Corporate Auditor of Ishikawajima Shipyard. Though a product of the parent company, he learned management itself at an affiliated turbine maker.

Selection

In June 1950 he resigned as President of Ishikawajima-Shibaura Turbine and that same month became President of Ishikawajima Heavy Industries. He became Representative Director and President in July 1951. The appointment appears to have applied to the parent his four-year record running an affiliate. In November 1957 he also became a director of Tokyo Shibaura Electric.

Initiatives

In November 1960 Shuzo Mutsuoka, President of Harima Shipbuilding, became Chairman of Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries, while Doko remained President. Harima Shipbuilding directors Kumaichi Migita and Kiyoji Tanaka also joined as Managing Directors that same month. Net sales grew from ¥8.3 billion in the fiscal year ended March 1955 to ¥90.5 billion in FY ended March 1964. In November 1964 he handed the presidency to Renzo Taguchi.
