Selection

In December 1971 he succeeded Yoichiro Makita as President. While changes of president had mostly come in May or June, this one came in December, midway through the fiscal year. Net sales for the fiscal year ended March 1971 were ¥658.3 billion, down 7% from ¥707.2 billion the previous year. The change also came shortly after the automobile division was transferred to Mitsubishi Motors in June 1970.

For the fiscal year ended March 1972, net sales were ¥701.4 billion and ordinary income ¥35.0 billion, recovering from ¥658.3 billion and ¥28.3 billion the previous year. In FY ended March 1973 net sales reached ¥770.3 billion and ordinary income ¥67.2 billion, a 2.4-fold increase in ordinary income over two years. After a year and a half in office he handed the presidency to Gakuji Moriya in May 1973 and became Chairman.
