Background
She joined McKinsey & Company in April 1986 and became a partner in December 1996. In March 1999 she founded DeNA and became a director, becoming Representative Director that August. As founder she also held shares: among major shareholders she ranked second with 15.99% in the FY ended March 2006 and was the largest with 14.84% in the FY ended March 2010.

She became Representative Director and President in September 2004. Having served as Representative Director since August 1999, she was the first leader, with no predecessor. It was the company's fifth year, and non-consolidated net results swung from a loss of ¥277 million in the FY ended March 2003 to a profit of ¥203 million in the FY ended March 2004. Net sales also grew from ¥965 million to ¥1,563 million.
Initiatives
In 2010 the company acquired ngmoco of the U.S., setting out to build a global social gaming platform. Consolidated net sales grew from ¥6.4 billion in the FY ended March 2006 to ¥112.7 billion in the FY ended March 2011, and operating income from ¥1.9 billion to ¥56.1 billion. Headcount also rose from 167 to 1,080. She spent six years and nine months as president, from taking office in September 2004 until stepping back to director in June 2011.
