Background

He entered the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications in April 1995 and in August 2015 was a planning officer in the postal administration department of the Information and Communications Bureau. He joined DeNA in April 2016 and became president of Yokohama Stadium. He advanced to Executive Officer in July 2017 and Director and COO in June 2019, reaching the presidency five years after joining. From April 2019 he also served as chairman of the board of Yokohama Stadium.

In April 2021 he succeeded Isao Moriyasu as Representative Director, President and CEO. His predecessor was a career employee who had served about ten years, and he was the third president, counting the founder. In the fiscal year ended March 2020, before he took office, the company posted a consolidated operating loss of ¥45.7 billion and a net loss of ¥49.1 billion, swinging into the red from operating income of ¥13.5 billion the previous year. Like his predecessor, he was promoted from COO.

Initiatives

In the FY ended March 2022, his first year, consolidated net sales were ¥130.8 billion and operating income ¥11.5 billion, with profit halving from ¥136.9 billion in sales and ¥22.5 billion in operating income the previous year. Operating income fell to ¥4.2 billion in the FY ended March 2023, and in the FY ended March 2024 the company posted an operating loss of ¥28.3 billion and a net loss of ¥28.6 billion. In the FY ended March 2025 net sales recovered to ¥163.9 billion and operating income to ¥29.0 billion. Headcount rose from 2,100 in the FY ended March 2021 to 2,194.
