Background
He joined Nippon Meat Packers in April 1985 and advanced to Executive Officer in April 2015, Director and Managing Executive Officer in June 2018, and Representative Director and Senior Managing Executive Officer in April 2020. He became Representative Director and Executive Vice President in April 2021 and headed the corporate planning headquarters from April 2022. It took him 30 years from joining to become an executive officer and eight more years to reach the presidency.

In April 2023 he succeeded Yoshihide Hata as president. In the fiscal year ended March 2023, the year before he took office, consolidated net sales rose to ¥1,259.7 billion, but income before income taxes fell 57% to ¥22.2 billion from ¥51.8 billion the previous year, and net income dropped from ¥48.0 billion to ¥16.6 billion. Right after a year in which profit more than halved, the executive vice president who also headed corporate planning took over.
Initiatives
He began a structural reform in his first year, calling for a shift away from doing everything in-house. He instructed the front lines to review the product portfolio by ending production and sales of unprofitable products, and made improving business profit the top priority. Consolidated income before income taxes recovered from ¥22.2 billion in the year before he took office to ¥40.6 billion in the FY ended March 2024 and ¥37.2 billion in the FY ended March 2025, and operating income in the FY ended March 2026, his final year, was ¥54.5 billion. Consolidated headcount fell from 17,168 in the FY ended March 2021 to 15,429 in the FY ended March 2024.
