Background
He joined Nippon Meat Packers in April 1972. He advanced to Executive Officer in April 2003, Director in June 2005 and Managing Executive Officer in April 2007, and became Representative Director and Executive Vice President in April 2009. He became president in April 2012, his 40th year with the company. Over this period the stake of the largest shareholder, The Master Trust Bank of Japan, rose from 6.96% in the FY ended March 2006 to 8.21% in the FY ended March 2010, and the top ranks were held by trust banks and the company's lending financial institutions.

In the fiscal year ended March 2012, the year before he took office, consolidated net sales were ¥1,017.7 billion and income before income taxes ¥26.8 billion, down from ¥33.2 billion the previous year. Operating income expanded from ¥30.6 billion to ¥43.8 billion and net income from ¥16.4 billion to ¥31.0 billion. Headcount rose from 15,427 to 15,700.
