Background
He joined Nippon Meat Packers in April 1981. He became Executive Officer in April 2009, 28 years after joining. He advanced to Director in June 2011, Managing Executive Officer in April 2012 and Representative Director and Executive Vice President in April 2015, and became president in January 2018. He took the helm after seven years as an officer and nearly three as executive vice president.

In January 2018 he succeeded Juichi Suezawa as president. In the fiscal year ended March 2017, the year before he took office, consolidated net sales were ¥1,202.2 billion and operating income ¥53.8 billion, the highest operating income of the previous ten years. His predecessor stepped down after about three years, and the change came in January, mid-year rather than at the turn of the fiscal year. He was promoted from Representative Director and Executive Vice President, a post he had held for nearly three years since April 2015.
