Background

In 1979 he founded I.R.M., a developer and seller of electronic game machines (renamed Sanbi in 1981), and in June 1983 founded the original Capcom to handle sales, becoming its Representative Director and President. Among major shareholders at the end of March 2006 he ranked third with 4.96%, followed by other individuals named Tsujimoto: Yoshiyuki with 2.86%, Ryozo with 2.65% and Haruhiro with 2.65%. The largest was Crossroad Ltd. with 11.59%.

Education: Nara Prefectural Unebi High School (1960)

Selection

He was the first president and had no predecessor. After serving as Representative Director and President of I.R.M. (renamed Sanbi in 1981), founded in 1979, he established the original Capcom in June 1983 and became its Representative Director and President that same month. He became President not by appointment but by founding the company himself. He also became Chief Executive Officer in April 2001, and in July 2007 handed the presidency to Haruhiro Tsujimoto and moved to Representative Director and Chairman.

Initiatives

In the 1990s the company listed on the Second Section of the Osaka Securities Exchange and later moved to the First Sections of the Osaka and Tokyo exchanges. In 1998 it posted a net loss from liquidating its Mexican subsidiary and writing down shares in its US holding company. From 2004 it rebuilt its development system, managing development in 60-month cycles and introducing two-stage approval of projects. In the FY ended March 2007, the year before he stepped down, net sales were ¥74.5 billion and operating income ¥9.6 billion.
