Background
He joined Capcom in April 1987 and became a Director ten years later in June 1997, Senior Managing Director in April 2001, and Director and Executive Vice President in April 2006, reaching the presidency 20 years after joining. Among major shareholders at the end of March 2006 he held 2.65%, alongside Kenzo Tsujimoto with 4.96%, Yoshiyuki Tsujimoto with 2.86% and Ryozo Tsujimoto with 2.65%. The largest was Crossroad Ltd. with 11.59%.
Selection
In July 2007 he succeeded founder Kenzo Tsujimoto as Representative Director and President. Kenzo stayed on as Representative Director and Chairman and kept the title of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) he had held since April 2001. Haruhiro's title was President, Executive Officer and COO, an arrangement that separated ultimate management responsibility from execution. In the fiscal year ended March 2007, the year before he took over, net sales were ¥74.5 billion and operating income ¥9.6 billion.
Initiatives
From 2012 he pursued a second structural reform, reviewing mobile investment and scaling back the amusement equipment business. From 2017 the in-house RE ENGINE became the foundation of development, and the company shifted how it earned revenue from packaged sales to digital and DLC sales. In January 2018 it released Monster Hunter: World simultaneously worldwide. Consolidated net sales grew from ¥82.1 billion in the FY ended March 2012 to ¥195.4 billion in the FY ended March 2026, and operating income from ¥12.3 billion to ¥75.3 billion.
