Background
He joined Osaka Gas in April 1978. Eight years passed between his becoming an Executive Officer and becoming President, and 37 years from joining the company.
Selection
In April 2015 he succeeded Hiroshi Ozaki as Representative Director and President, promoted after two years as Representative Director and Executive Vice President. In the fiscal year ended March 2015, the year before he took over, consolidated net sales were ¥1,528.1 billion, ordinary income ¥108.2 billion and net income ¥76.7 billion, all the highest of Ozaki's seven years in office. The change was not driven by deteriorating results but was a handover of businesses his predecessor had grown.

Consolidated operating income was ¥146.7 billion in the FY ended March 2016, his first year, but fell to ¥68.0 billion in the FY ended March 2019 and recovered to ¥83.8 billion in the FY ended March 2020, his final year. Consolidated net sales ranged from ¥1,322.0 billion to ¥1,368.6 billion over the same period.
