Background
He joined Osaka Gas in April 1982. He became Executive Officer in April 2012 and in April 2013 served as President of the subsidiary Osaka Gas Chemicals. He became Managing Executive Officer in April 2015 and Representative Director and Executive Vice President in June 2016, spending four years and seven months as Executive Vice President before becoming President. He returned to the parent company's management after running a subsidiary.

In January 2021 he succeeded Takehiro Honjo as Representative Director, President and Executive Officer. In the fiscal year ended March 2020, the year before he took over, consolidated net sales were ¥1,368.6 billion, operating income ¥83.8 billion and net income ¥41.7 billion, with sales nearly flat from ¥1,371.8 billion in the FY ended March 2019. The promotion came after four years and seven months as Representative Director and Executive Vice President from June 2016.

During his tenure, consolidated net sales rose from ¥1,364.1 billion in the FY ended March 2021 to ¥2,030.3 billion in the FY ended March 2026, and operating income from ¥112.5 billion to ¥174.8 billion. In the FY ended March 2023 net sales grew to ¥2,275.1 billion while operating income fell to ¥60.0 billion. In November 2025 the company announced a policy of adopting a DOE of 3.5% from the interim dividend and raising the annual dividend to ¥120.
