Background

He joined Isuzu Motors in April 1973 and, ten years later in September 1983, moved to Fanuc, where he launched the ROBOSHOT electric injection molding machine business. He became a Director in June 1989, Senior Managing Director in June 1995 and Representative Director and Executive Vice President in May 2001.

Selection

In June 2003 Yoshiharu Inaba became Representative Director and President. After the first president, Yoshimitsu Kora, the post had passed to Seiuemon Inaba, Ryoichiro Nozawa and Shigeaki Oyama, making Yoshiharu the fifth. In the fiscal year ended March 2003, the year before, consolidated net sales were ¥214.3 billion and ordinary income ¥65.3 billion. In the mid-term plan announced after he took office, he pledged to raise sales 50% over five years, to ¥300 billion non-consolidated and ¥400 billion consolidated. At the time the company's NC systems were thought to hold about 70% of the domestic market and about 50% worldwide.

Initiatives

In May 2006 he set up a management council composed of the Honorary Chairman, President, Chairman, Senior Managing Directors and Senior Advisors. In October 2010 monthly capacity for ROBODRILL at the Tsukuba plant was raised from 1,600 to 2,500 units, and a new plant in December 2012 doubled it to 5,000. On April 27, 2015 the company raised its consolidated payout ratio from 30% to 60% and disclosed a policy of keeping the average total return ratio over the next five years within 80% of net income. That same month it set up an SR department as a point of contact for dialogue with shareholders.
