Background

He joined Fuji Electric Manufacturing in 1929, moved to Fuji Tsushinki Manufacturing in 1947, became a Director in 1949, and became President of Fujitsu in May 1970. In May 1972, as Fujitsu's President, he also became President of Fujitsu Fanuc. In November 1974 he stepped down as Fujitsu's President to become Senior Advisor, and also retired to Senior Advisor at Fanuc.

On April 14, 1972 Fujitsu's board decided to spin off its NC division, and Fujitsu Fanuc was launched that May with capital of ¥2 billion. Kora became the new company's President, and Seiuemon Inaba, head of Fujitsu's Computing and Control Department, became Senior Managing Director. It started with about 630 employees and its head office in Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture, where Fujitsu's head office district was located. Inaba wrote that the spin-off of the NC division was Kora's decision, made with a long-term view of management.
