Background
He joined Fujitsu in 1971, becoming head of the Policy Promotion Unit in April 2001 and Corporate Vice President in June 2002. He advanced to Corporate Senior Vice President in October 2005 and Corporate First Senior Vice President in June 2007, and became Corporate Executive Vice President in April 2008. He entered the core of management 34 years after joining and reached the presidency three years later. In June 2008 he became Representative Director and President.
Selection
In June 2008 he succeeded Hiroaki Kurokawa as President. In the fiscal year ended March 2008, the year before he took office, net sales were ¥5,330.9 billion and operating income ¥205.0 billion, shortly after the recovery from the consolidated net loss of ¥382.5 billion in the FY ended March 2002. He had become Corporate Executive Vice President in April 2008, and became President two months later.
Initiatives
His tenure lasted only one year and three months, from June 2008 to September 2009. On September 25, 2009, Nozoe resigned citing illness and never appeared in public again. On February 26, 2010, five months after resigning, he sent the directors and auditors a notice retracting his resignation. Nozoe claimed he had been pressed to resign on the grounds that he associated with antisocial forces, and an investigation by his attorney concluded there was no such involvement.
