Background
He joined OMRON in April 1989. He became Managing Executive Officer in April 2019 and from March 2021 served as President of the Industrial Automation Company (IAB), which handles control equipment. He became President and CEO in April 2023 and Representative Director in June that year. It took him 34 years from joining to the presidency, by a route that passed through just one post as head of a core business company.

He was appointed 34 years after joining in April 1989 and four years after becoming Managing Executive Officer.
Initiatives
In the fiscal year ended March 2024, his first year, consolidated net sales were ¥818.7 billion and income before income taxes ¥35.0 billion, with net income falling to ¥8.1 billion. The company made JMDC a consolidated subsidiary, establishing data solutions as a new core business. In response to the slump in control equipment, it launched the structural reform program NEXT 2025 and decided to cut about 2,000 jobs. In the FY ended March 2026, net sales were ¥767.4 billion and income before income taxes ¥52.6 billion, a recovery in profits.
