Background

He became Representative Director and President of Sammy in March 1980 and led its pachinko and pachislot machine business. In February 2004 he also became Representative Director and Chairman of SEGA, and went on to become Representative Director, Chairman and President of SEGA SAMMY HOLDINGS, launched that October. His position as founder was backed by capital: in the fiscal year ended March 2006 he was the largest shareholder with 15.38%. His stake was 16.36% in FY ended March 2011.

Selection

SEGA SAMMY HOLDINGS was a holding company established in October 2004 through a share transfer by SEGA and Sammy, and Satomi became its first Representative Director, Chairman and President. At its establishment he was Representative Director, Chairman and CEO of Sammy and Representative Director and Chairman of SEGA, serving as president of the holding company while still representing both operating companies. In the fiscal year ended March 2005, the first year after the integration, consolidated net sales were ¥515.7 billion and net income ¥50.6 billion.

Initiatives

In 2011 the company began developing the Paradise City integrated casino resort in Incheon through a joint venture with Korea's Paradise, and in March 2013 it acquired Phoenix Resort (Seagaia) in Miyazaki, channeling money earned from gaming machines into resorts. In April 2015 it split SEGA into three companies by function and withdrew from operating amusement centers. Consolidated net sales fell from ¥553.2 billion in the fiscal year ended March 2006 to ¥348.0 billion in FY ended March 2016.
