Background

He joined Sammy in March 2004 and moved to SEGA the following January. He became a Director of SEGA SAMMY HOLDINGS in June 2012, Representative Director and Executive Vice President of SEGA in November 2014, and Representative Director, President and COO of Sammy in April 2016, going on to head the holding company after running both operating companies. Capital lay with the founding family: in the fiscal year ended March 2011, Hajime Satomi was the largest shareholder with 16.36%.

Selection

In April 2017 he succeeded Hajime Satomi as Representative Director, President and COO. Hajime Satomi simultaneously became Representative Director, Chairman and CEO, giving up only the presidency while keeping the CEO title. In the fiscal year ended March 2017, the year before he took office, consolidated net sales were ¥366.9 billion and operating income ¥29.5 billion, just after a recovery from a net loss of ¥11.4 billion in FY ended March 2015. In April 2021 the arrangement changed so that the president also served as Group CEO, making him the top executive.

Initiatives

In July 2020 the company transferred its amusement center operating company to GENDA and withdrew from that business. In February 2024 it opened the Inspire integrated resort in Incheon, Korea, moving the resort business into operation. Consolidated net sales bottomed at ¥277.7 billion in the fiscal year ended March 2021 and recovered to ¥487.5 billion in FY ended March 2026, while operating income rose from ¥6.6 billion to ¥47.1 billion. However, FY ended March 2026 ended with a net loss of ¥5.8 billion.
