Background

He joined the staffing company Intelligence in April 1997 and the following March, in 1998, founded CyberAgent and became its Representative Director and President. He has been the largest shareholder since the founding, ranking first with 29.13% among major shareholders in the fiscal year ended September 2005. Twenty years later, in FY ended September 2025, he still held 16.63%, staying on top ahead of The Master Trust Bank of Japan at 15.55%. He is a founder who controls both management and capital.

He was the first President, with no predecessor. He became Representative Director and President upon the founding in March 1998. In the fiscal year ended September 1999, the first full year after the founding, non-consolidated revenue was only ¥452 million, growing to ¥3.2 billion in FY ended September 2000. The founder himself ran the company and served as President for 27 years until stepping back to Chairman in December 2025.
