Background

He graduated from the agricultural chemistry department of Kyushu Imperial University's Faculty of Agriculture in March 1930 and joined Meiji Seika that April. He moved to Meiji Milk Products in 1941, and in 1949 served as Managing Director of Asahi Nyugyo. With the 1951 merger with Asahi Nyugyo he returned to Meiji Milk Products, serving as head of the Chiba office, general manager of dairy confectionery and general manager of fluid milk sales, and became general manager of dairy confectionery sales in December 1956. He became a Director in November 1959, Osaka sales office manager in September 1962 and head of the D.S. division in November 1967.

Education: Kyushu Imperial University, Faculty of Agriculture, Agricultural Chemistry (now Kyushu University, Faculty of Agriculture) (1930)

Selection

He climbed step by step, becoming Managing Director in May 1969, Senior Managing Director in May 1972 and Executive Vice President in May 1975, and in June 1977 succeeded Masanori Ono as President. Ono moved to Chairman that month. Fujimi was one of those who became Directors at the same time as Ono in November 1959, and he succeeded to the presidency after two years as Executive Vice President. It appears to have been a succession following the internal order.

Initiatives

As of 1979 his Executive Vice President was Tsuneo Yoshida, who joined Asahi Nyugyo in 1951 and moved to Meiji Milk Products in August 1960, having come by way of Asahi Nyugyo like Keijo Fujimi. Whereas his predecessor Masanori Ono came from accounting and sales, he was followed by a President trained in agricultural chemistry who had worked in fluid milk and dairy confectionery sales. The Japan corporate directory lists him as President through the 1980 edition, and his tenure after that has not been confirmed.
