Background
He joined Kansai Electric Power in April 1979. He became an Executive Officer in June 2007, 28 years after joining. He rose to Managing Executive Officer in June 2015 and Representative Director and Executive Vice President in June 2016, becoming President after three years and nine months as Executive Vice President. In June 2019 he also became President of Kanden L-Heart.

In March 2020 he succeeded Shigeki Iwane as President. The change came in March, outside the timing of the ordinary general meeting of shareholders, and in the year before his appointment, the fiscal year ended March 2019, the company had remained profitable, with consolidated revenue of ¥3,307.6 billion, operating profit of ¥204.9 billion and net income of ¥115.0 billion. The change appears to have been made for reasons other than business results.
Initiatives
Three months after taking office, in June 2020, he became Representative Executive Officer and President as the company moved to a structure with executive officers. Over his three years in office, consolidated operating profit declined every year, at ¥207.0 billion in the fiscal year ended March 2020, ¥145.7 billion in the FY ended March 2021 and ¥99.3 billion in the FY ended March 2022. Revenue also shrank by more than ¥330.0 billion, from ¥3,184.2 billion to ¥2,851.8 billion, and net income fell from ¥130.0 billion to ¥85.8 billion. He stepped down as President in June 2022, handing over to Nozomu Mori.
