He became Director and Managing Executive Officer in June 2020, Representative Director and Senior Managing Executive Officer in April 2021, and Representative Director and President in April 2022, 40 years after joining and ten years after becoming an Executive Officer. He gained representative authority a year before becoming President, so he had one year of experience as a Representative Director.

Education: Tokyo University of Foreign Studies (1982)

Selection

In April 2022 he succeeded Shinya Katanozaka as President. In the year before his appointment, the fiscal year ended March 2022, revenue was ¥1,020.3 billion with an operating loss of ¥173.1 billion and a net loss of ¥143.6 billion, the second straight year of losses after an operating loss of ¥464.8 billion and a net loss of ¥404.6 billion in the FY ended March 2021. The change came after two consecutive years of losses, and the appointment appears to have entrusted him with turning the return of demand into profit.

Initiatives

In his first year, the fiscal year ended March 2023, the company posted revenue of ¥1,707.4 billion and operating profit of ¥120.0 billion, returning to profit for the first time in three years. In the FY ended March 2024 revenue was ¥2,055.9 billion and operating profit ¥207.9 billion, back to the same revenue scale as the pre-pandemic FY ended March 2019 (revenue ¥2,058.3 billion, operating profit ¥165.0 billion), with operating profit exceeding that level. In the FY ended March 2025 it still secured revenue of ¥2,261.8 billion and operating profit of ¥196.6 billion.
