Background

He is a career employee who joined Nagoya Railroad in April 1978. On becoming a Director in June 2008 he took charge of administration, as General Manager of General Affairs from the following month and of Personnel from June 2010. He became Managing Director in June 2011 and Representative Director and Senior Managing Director in June 2013, also heading the Real Estate Business Headquarters from the month after that promotion. He became President with real estate rather than railways as his home ground.

In the fiscal year ended March 2015, the year before he took office, consolidated revenue was ¥609.4 billion, operating income ¥38.1 billion and net income ¥17.8 billion, with ordinary profit up two years in a row from ¥28.8 billion in the fiscal year ended March 2013 to ¥34.2 billion and ¥35.8 billion. He was promoted after two years heading the Real Estate Business Headquarters.

Initiatives

Consolidated revenue, ¥609.4 billion in the year before he took office, rose to ¥622.6 billion in the fiscal year ended March 2019, and operating income from ¥38.1 billion to ¥49.5 billion, the highest in his six fiscal years. In June 2019, under an executive officer system, he also became President and Executive Officer. In the fiscal year ended March 2021 the company swung into the red with revenue of ¥481.6 billion, an operating loss of ¥16.4 billion and a net loss of ¥28.8 billion, and three months later he stepped down as President and became Representative Director and Chairman.
