He joined Ube Industries in April 1983 and in April 2010 became Executive Officer and Group CFO, in charge of finance. He became a Director in June 2011 and Managing Executive Officer in April 2013, and in April 2018 served as Senior Managing Executive Officer and President of the Chemicals Company. He spent all 36 years from joining to the presidency at the company.

In April 2019 he became Representative Director, President and CEO, succeeding Yuzuru Yamamoto. The promotion came one year after he became President of the Chemicals Company in April 2018. In the fiscal year ended March 2019, the year before he took office, consolidated net sales were ¥730.1 billion, operating income ¥44.6 billion and net income ¥32.4 billion, with sales and net income above the previous year. Whereas his predecessor came from machinery, the change put in an executive who had come through finance and the chemicals business.
Initiatives
During his tenure, in 2022, the company changed its name from Ube Industries to UBE and separated its founding cement business from the group. Consolidated net sales fell from ¥655.2 billion in the fiscal year ended March 2022 to ¥494.7 billion in FY ended March 2023, and employees from 9,849 to 8,028. In FY ended March 2023 the company posted an ordinary loss of ¥8.7 billion and a net loss of ¥7.0 billion, and FY ended March 2025, the year he stepped down, also ended with a net loss of ¥4.8 billion.
