Background
A career employee who joined UBE in April 1987, he spent 38 years at the company before becoming President. He became an Executive Officer in April 2016, Managing Executive Officer in April 2019 and Senior Managing Executive Officer in April 2022, and Representative Director and Senior Managing Executive Officer in June 2024. He rose to President ten months after becoming a Representative Director.

His predecessor was Masato Izumihara, and he took over the presidency in April 2025. In the fiscal year ended March 2025, the year before he took office, net sales were ¥486.8 billion and operating income ¥18.0 billion, with a net loss of ¥4.8 billion. Operating income had also fallen from ¥22.5 billion the year before to ¥18.0 billion. Right after a loss-making year, an internal Representative Director and Senior Managing Executive Officer was promoted.
