Background
He is a founder who came up through real estate brokerage sales. He joined Unihouse in October 1987 and worked in sales for ten years. He also served as a director of companies brought under the group: Soken Build (now Open House Development) from September 2000, Asakawa Home (now Open House Architect) from January 2015 and Hawk One from October 2018. Among major shareholders at the end of September 2025, he was the largest with 33.97%, retaining the capital backing of a founder.
Selection
As the first president, he had no predecessor. In September 1997, ten years after joining Unihouse in October 1987, he founded Open House and became Representative Director and President the same month. The presidency came with the founding rather than through appointment. In October 2025 he handed the presidency to Ryosuke Fukuoka and moved to Director and Founder, ending a 28-year tenure. His successor Fukuoka is a career employee who joined in 2002 and rose to the parent's presidency after leading three group companies.
Initiatives
In 2001 he shifted the company from pure brokerage to a business of buying land itself and building houses on it. In October 2018 it acquired Hawk One to expand its supply of detached houses, and in October 2023 made Sanei Architecture Planning a subsidiary. In January 2022 it moved to a pure holding company structure and changed its name to Open House Group. Consolidated net sales grew from ¥97.0 billion in the FY ended September 2013 to ¥1,336.5 billion in the FY ended September 2025, and operating income from ¥10.2 billion to ¥145.9 billion.
