Background

He became Executive Officer and manager of Daimaru's Tokyo store in January 2010 and moved to Daimaru Matsuzakaya Department Stores as Executive Officer that March. He advanced to Director and Executive Officer in May 2012 and Representative Director and President in April 2013, leading the operating company for four years. He also became a director of J.Front Retailing in May 2013 and Representative Managing Executive Officer in May 2017, joining the holding company's management.

In May 2020 he succeeded Ryoichi Yamamoto as Representative Executive Officer and President, with Yamamoto moving to chairman of the board. In the fiscal year ended February 2020, the year before he took office, consolidated operating income was ¥40.3 billion and net income ¥21.2 billion. In the FY ended February 2021, his first year, revenue was ¥319.0 billion, with an operating loss of ¥24.3 billion and a net loss of ¥26.1 billion, both operating and net results swinging into the red.

In the FY ended February 2022 the company returned to the black with operating income of ¥9.4 billion and net income of ¥4.3 billion. Operating income reached ¥19.1 billion in the FY ended February 2023 and ¥43.0 billion in the FY ended February 2024, exceeding the ¥40.3 billion of the year before he took office. Revenue also grew from ¥319.0 billion in the FY ended February 2021 to ¥407.0 billion in the FY ended February 2024.
