Background
A career employee, he joined Daimaru in April 1998. He served as general manager in the MD and channel development division from September 2015 and general manager of sales promotion at the Daimaru Kyoto store from September 2016. He advanced to Executive Officer of J.Front Retailing in March 2018 and Managing Executive Officer in March 2022, also joining the board of PARCO that May. After working on the sales floor and in merchandise procurement, he moved into the core of management as an executive officer of the holding company.

In March 2024 he succeeded Tatsuya Yoshimoto as Representative Executive Officer and President. In the fiscal year ended February 2024, the year before he took office, consolidated revenue was ¥407.0 billion, operating income ¥43.0 billion and net income ¥29.9 billion, all above the previous year. At the time of his appointment he was Managing Executive Officer heading corporate strategy, and had also been a director of PARCO since May 2022. The appointment elevated the person in charge of corporate planning right after results had recovered.
Initiatives
In the FY ended February 2025, his first year, consolidated revenue was ¥441.8 billion, operating income ¥58.2 billion and net income ¥41.4 billion, all above the previous year. Compared with the FY ended February 2024, the year before he took office, revenue rose 8.6% and operating income 35.3%. Since the FY ended February 2023, just before that, had revenue of ¥359.6 billion and operating income of ¥19.1 billion, operating income tripled in two years. Headcount recovered from 5,115 in the FY ended February 2023 to 5,277 in the FY ended February 2024.
