Background
He joined Carl Zeiss Vision in February 2000, moved to Boston Consulting Group in July 2007 and became a project leader in July 2009. He became an APMEA region director at McDonald's in October 2010, Vice President of McDonald's Korea in April 2013 and Executive Officer of McDonald's Japan in July 2015. From January 2017 he was CFO of High Growth Markets at the U.S. headquarters, and from November 2020 led the Asia business unit.

In the fiscal year ended December 2023, the year before he took office, consolidated net sales were ¥381.9 billion and operating income ¥40.9 billion, up in both from ¥352.3 billion and ¥33.8 billion the previous year. In the FY ended December 2025, two affiliates of the U.S. headquarters are the top two shareholders with 25.25% and 10.07%. The appointment placed someone who had handled finance and regional operations at headquarters in the presidency of the Japanese company.
