Background
He joined Sanwa Bank in April 1996 and was seconded to the Export-Import Bank of Japan from April 1999. He moved to McKinsey & Company in September 2005 and became a principal in April 2013. He joined Cookpad in February 2016, brought in as an Executive Officer. He was an outsider with no career inside the company, and became Representative Executive Officer the month after joining.

In March 2016 he succeeded Yoshiteru Akita as Representative Executive Officer. He had joined the previous month, in February 2016, so the promotion came one month after becoming an Executive Officer. Among major shareholders in the fiscal year ended December 2015, founder Akimitsu Sano held 43.57% and his predecessor Akita 14.76%, the two together holding a majority. He was appointed as the founder's side reshuffled the management structure.

Operating results swung to a loss of ¥2.6 billion in FY ended December 2021, followed by three straight years of operating losses. Over his seven years in office, net sales fell by more than half.
