Background
He joined the Kintetsu group in April 1982. He became an Executive Officer of Kintetsu Railway Split Preparation Co. (now Kintetsu Railway) in January 2015 and Director and Managing Executive Officer in June 2016. In June 2019 he became President of Kintetsu Railway while also sitting on the holding company's board, and in June 2021 became a Group Executive Officer of the holding company. He became President of the holding company 41 years after joining.

In June 2023 he became President of the holding company, succeeding Toshihide Ogura. In the fiscal year ended March 2023, the year before he took office, consolidated revenue was ¥1,561.0 billion and operating income ¥67.1 billion, a recovery over two years from the operating loss of ¥62.1 billion and net loss of ¥60.2 billion in the fiscal year ended March 2021. Until just before, he had spent four years as President of the operating company Kintetsu Railway.
Initiatives
In his first year, the fiscal year ended March 2024, consolidated revenue was ¥1,629.5 billion and operating income ¥87.4 billion, up in both from ¥1,561.0 billion and ¥67.1 billion the year before. Net income fell from ¥91.6 billion to ¥47.8 billion. A year after taking office he stepped back to Chairman, and Kei Wakai succeeded him.
