Background

He joined Katitas in June 2012 and became Representative Director and President the same month, coming straight in from outside to the top without climbing the internal ranks. From March 2016 he also served as Representative Director and Chairman of the subsidiary Reprice, becoming its President in March 2017 and its Chairman again in June 2022.

He became President in June 2012, succeeding Yukinori Sugiyama. In the fiscal year ended January 2012, the year before he took office, revenue was ¥27.4 billion, operating income ¥1.2 billion and net income ¥0.2 billion, with revenue down by more than 30% in two years from ¥39.8 billion in the fiscal year ended January 2010. The handover entrusted the rebuilding of a shrunken business to a manager brought in from outside.

Initiatives

In March 2016 he acquired all shares of Reprice, a rival, cementing the company's position as the largest player in buying, renovating and reselling used homes. In the fiscal year ended March 2018 the company relisted on the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange. Consolidated revenue grew 2.5 times over nine years from ¥61.8 billion in the fiscal year ended March 2017 to ¥151.9 billion in the fiscal year ended March 2026, operating income from ¥5.0 billion to ¥18.3 billion and net income from ¥3.5 billion to ¥12.5 billion.
