Background
He joined Yamaichi Securities in April 1989, moved to AIG Alico Japan in July 1997 and to KOBE Securities in July 1999. He joined Yasuragi in February 2005, joined its subsidiary Property the following March and became its Representative Director in April. He became Director, Executive Officer and head of the President's Office in April 2006 and Director and head of the Administration Division in October that year. An outsider from securities and insurance, his résumé shows no experience in sales or construction for the used-home renovation business.
Selection
In April 2008 he became Representative Director and President, succeeding Tadao Suda, who had been President since the company's founding in 1978 and who moved to Chairman that month, remaining in the company. In the fiscal year ended January 2008, just before he took office, consolidated revenue was ¥53.7 billion with a net loss of ¥1.6 billion, down from revenue of ¥76.0 billion and net income of ¥1.5 billion the year before. The other directors on the same board list had joined in 1989, 2002 and 2004, and Negishi, who joined in February 2005, became President three years after joining. He held 400 shares, against Suda's 3,993,100.
Initiatives
Consolidated revenue fell to ¥41.4 billion in the fiscal year ended January 2009, but the company returned to the black with operating income of ¥2.3 billion, ordinary profit of ¥1.3 billion and net income of ¥0.6 billion. In March 2009 he became a director without representative authority, and the presidency passed to Chikara Suda. He served for about a year.
