Selection

He became President in June 2005, succeeding Shigeru Takagi. Just before, he had been in charge of the overseas business as Director and Senior Executive Officer. In the fiscal year ended March 2005, the year before he took office, consolidated revenue was ¥775.3 billion and operating income ¥118.2 billion. The handover came as construction of the second Shin-Marunouchi Building was under way following the second Marunouchi Building opened in 2002, and while the company held Towa Real Estate, in which his predecessor had taken a stake.

Initiatives

The second Shin-Marunouchi Building was completed in 2007. Its retail zone had about 16,000 square meters of total store space and 153 shops, more than the Marunouchi Building's 140. Towa Real Estate, in which the company had taken a stake in 2005, became a consolidated subsidiary through a share issue it underwrote in 2008 and a wholly owned subsidiary in 2009. In January 2011 the company set up Mitsubishi Estate Residence, combining the housing businesses of Towa Real Estate and Mitsubishi Estate and unifying its condominium brands under "The Parkhouse".
