Background
He joined Dai-Ichi Kangyo Bank in April 1972 and became Executive Officer and head of the Markets Planning Office in June 2000. He served as Managing Executive Officer of Mizuho Corporate Bank from April 2002, Managing Director of Mizuho Bank from April 2004 and Director, Deputy President and head of Internal Audit at Mizuho Financial Group from June 2005. He moved to Tokyo Leasing as Representative Director and Executive Vice President in June 2007 and became its President in April 2008. After 35 years in banking, he became President of a new company two years after moving into leasing.
Selection
In April 2009 he became the first President of the company created by the merger of Century Leasing System and Tokyo Leasing. He had no predecessor, and had been President of Tokyo Leasing, one party to the merger, since April 2008. Before the merger, in the fiscal year ended March 2009, sales were ¥266.7 billion and net income ¥6.0 billion; in the first year after the merger, the FY ended March 2010, sales rose to ¥758.7 billion and net income to ¥25.5 billion.
Initiatives
During his tenure, consolidated sales rose from ¥716.3 billion in the fiscal year ended March 2012 to ¥1,166.6 billion in the FY ended March 2020. Operating profit grew without a single decline from ¥41.9 billion to ¥88.3 billion over the same period, and net income rose from ¥26.2 billion to ¥56.3 billion. He stepped back to Representative Director and Chairman in April 2020, and has remained a Director since June 2022.
