Selection

His predecessor was Takashi Onishi, and Motoyama moved from President of Mizuho Securities to Representative Director, President and CEO in June 2016. At the time the company was named IBJ Leasing, and in the fiscal year ended March 2016, the year before he took office, consolidated sales were ¥364.2 billion, operating profit ¥17.6 billion and net income ¥11.6 billion. A former banker who had served as Deputy President of Mizuho Corporate Bank and President of Mizuho Securities was placed at the top of the leasing company.

Initiatives

In 2019 the company concluded a capital and business alliance with Mizuho Bank, becoming an equity-method affiliate of Mizuho Financial Group, and in 2020 changed its name from IBJ Leasing to Mizuho Leasing. That same year it jointly acquired US-based Aircastle with Marubeni, taking 25% of the voting rights. Consolidated sales grew from ¥364.2 billion the year before he took office to ¥539.2 billion in the fiscal year ended March 2020, his final year, and net income from ¥11.6 billion to ¥17.5 billion.
