Background

He joined Bandai in April 1983, becoming an Executive Officer in April 2002, a Director in April 2006 and Managing Director in April 2010. He became Representative Director and President of Bandai in August 2015, and in February 2018 also Representative Director and President of BANDAI SPIRITS. At the holding company he became an Executive Officer in August 2015, a Director in June 2016 and Director and Executive Vice President in April 2020. He is a career employee who came up through the toy and hobby operating companies.

Selection

In April 2021 he succeeded Mitsuaki Taguchi as Representative Director and President of the holding company. In the fiscal year ended March 2021, the year before he took office, net sales were ¥740.9 billion and operating income ¥84.7 billion, up from ¥723.9 billion and ¥78.8 billion the previous year. Net income, however, was ¥48.8 billion, down from ¥57.6 billion. Promoted after one year as Director and Executive Vice President, he was a former president of two operating companies placed at the top of the holding company.

Initiatives

In April 2022 he became Representative Director, President and Group CEO. In the fiscal year ended March 2022 net sales grew to ¥889.2 billion and operating income to ¥125.5 billion, and in the FY ended March 2024 net sales topped ¥1 trillion at ¥1,050.2 billion, while operating income fell to ¥90.7 billion from ¥116.5 billion the previous year. In the FY ended March 2025, his last year, net sales were ¥1,241.5 billion, operating income ¥180.2 billion and net income ¥129.3 billion, with net sales 1.7 times the ¥740.9 billion of the year before he took office.
