Background
He joined Saizeriya in June 1984, became General Manager of the Materials Department in March 1995 and a Director in November 1996. He held posts across purchasing, store operations and administration: head of the Store Operations Division from November 2008, the Merchandising Division from September 2012, the Strategic Infrastructure Division from December 2018 and the General Affairs Division from April 2020. It took him 38 years from joining to become President.
Selection
He became President and Executive Officer in September 2022, and in November that year succeeded Issei Horino as Representative Director and President. In the fiscal year ended August 2022, just before he took office, operating income was ¥0.4 billion on consolidated net sales of ¥144.2 billion, and the company had posted an operating loss of ¥3.8 billion in the FY ended August 2020. The change appears to have come at a time of rebuilding the profitability of domestic restaurants, which had deteriorated during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Initiatives
Consolidated net sales grew 1.8 times in three fiscal years, from ¥144.2 billion in the fiscal year ended August 2022 to ¥256.7 billion in the FY ended August 2025. Operating income rose from ¥0.4 billion to ¥15.5 billion and net income from ¥5.6 billion to ¥11.1 billion. With operating income of ¥14.9 billion in the FY ended August 2024 and ¥15.5 billion in the FY ended August 2025, the company secured around ¥15.0 billion two years in a row.
