Background
A career employee, he joined Advantest in 1987. He became an Executive Officer in June 2014, Managing Executive Officer in June 2015, Director and Managing Executive Officer in June 2020, Representative Director and Executive Vice President in January 2023, and President in April 2024. He is the fifth consecutive career-employee president since Toshio Maruyama took office in 2001.

In April 2024 he was promoted from Executive Vice President to succeed Yoshiaki Yoshida, who became Chairman of the Board. In the fiscal year ended March 2024, the year before he took office, consolidated net sales were ¥486.5 billion and net income ¥62.3 billion, down from the record ¥130.4 billion of the previous year. The handover came just before testing demand for AI semiconductors took off.
Initiatives
In his first year, the fiscal year ended March 2025, consolidated revenue reached ¥779.7 billion and net income ¥161.2 billion, surpassing the record set in FY ended March 2023. In FY ended March 2026 revenue grew to ¥1,128.6 billion and net income to ¥375.4 billion, with operating income reaching ¥499.1 billion.
